Don't Be Afraid of Used Kids Clothes

Let me frame this post correctly. I am a father of two boys who utilize all the resources I can provide. Being a parent is awesome and there are somethings for your child you can't skimp on. But there are many ways you can save money. My earlier post Get-Free-Baby-Stuff outlined how you can get free stuff for your baby directly from the manufacturer. This post will address clothing.

Kids Clothes are expensive. Especially for babys and toddlers. You can spend $20 to $30 to buy an outfit that your child will outgrow in a matter of weeks. Why in the world would you pay that when you could get the same clothes at a good children's resale shop for $5 to $10 dollars? The clothes are high quality, hardly used and sometimes they even have the original tags on. Trust me you won't be as frustrated when you see your toddler drip that cherry popsicle on that new shirt if you got that shirt for 80% off retail.

They often have many other items in these shops as well. You can get strollers, toys, and furniture as well. However remember, buyer beware. Remember these are used items and you should inspect them before you buy them to make sure you are satisfied. Another note of warning. Never buy a used car seat. These seats have expiration dates and if you buy an old one the integrity of the plastic and padding may be compromised. Most owners of children's resale shops know this so be cautious of the shop that has old car seats for sale. Good luck and happy saving!

There's a consignment shop in my town that sells baby items. All cheap no more than ten dollars and most of the stuff is either new or looks like new. Brand names too.I love thrift stores:) Great Hub!
